​​Dr. Jin Zhi

D.Des. | PG Cert in HE | MSc | MFA | BA(Hons)

Dr. Zhi is a leading visual effects artist who worked on academy award-winning feature films, such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Prometheus, Wrath of the Titans, John Carter, etc. ​As a practical VFX and compositing supervisor, he worked intensively on TV commercials for recognized international brands, including Volkswagen, Adidas, Volvo, Lincoln SUV, Bosideng clothing, Haier, etc. His knowledge and skills cover on-set supervision, data measurements, 3D CGI & animation, high-end compositing, traditional life drawing, conceptual design, etc. across visual effects production pipelines. 

​Dr. Zhi started his academic career as a full-time lecturer in 3D animation & VFX and a senior lecturer in film visual effects in UK higher education institutions. Meanwhile, he obtained a PG Cert in HE Certificate and is recognized as a Fellow of the UK higher education academy. In addition, Zhi is also an officially Certified Nuke Trainer by the Foundry London, UK.

In 2018, Dr. Zhi started his new journey in New York City. He is now a full-time, tenured Associate Professor in mass communication, supporting film production and 3D animation programs at St. John's University, New York.
